BACK Language NEXT
The Persians spoke an Indo-European language known as Old Persian, which was the official language of the empire. Even with the attack of the Arabs to the Persians, the language never left nor did it ever change to the Arabic language because of people such as the poet Ferdowsi, Saadi, and Hophes. Cyrus the Great helped keep the Persians culturally alive because of the motivating spirit he gave to his people. The next generation was able to stand strong to defend their genuine culture created by Cyrus.
